I have never had a shield on my bike.
I must say though having done an 800 + mile ride, I wish to hell I did!
Tractor Trailers are not our friends - I friggin hate them with a passion same goes with lifted 4x4's anything that can flip a pebble at you sux!!!
I assure you I will be getting a shield in the near future so when I do go on a long haul again I have it. Around town, nope.. But heading on a highway I will be taking advantage of it.

Yeah speaking on wind shields, going this weekend to look and test ride a SG. Thinking about selling the Deluxe. Wanna do some longer rides with my dad this coming spring, and riding 400 to 500 miles on my deluxe, wears me out. A** hurts, arms ache, so Im seriously thinkin about a SG. Dont kill me fellas....

Drove To and from Ocean City this week and I must say I took a beating coming home . It was only 3 hours on the bike but man do I want a SG myself. The wind and trucks killed me this trip . I wanted to get home so I didn't dip below 70 so that made matters worse . At times I was holding on for dear life lol .

I took one to my eyelid while riding. Hurt smacking into me but I thought it was just a bug that hit me.
Got home, said "what's that black thing sticking out of my lid?" Got a pair of tweezers, pulled it out, and it was the stinger which pumped the venom in as I tweezed it.
Couldn't see out of that eye for 5 days. That was fun.

Cut off the venom sack with an exacto, or have a friend do it.

When I take my shield off, I ride for about 2 minutes, turn around and put it back on. I like to remind myself why I got one put on my old Virago when I had it. Pure and simple, wind noise and ambient road nose will cause loss of hearing. Not a question of if, just when. Same with loud pipes.
