I went through the ACC helmet BS here in Cal. Have a shelf of novs, dots, an ACC. Here's one for ya. Street & Steel, P-47 Half from Cycle Gear.Com. Come's in Matte or Gloss Black. Price 49.99. Compared to ACC ,it's the closest I've found. And It's really a DOT!
Looks good, but in the pic I noticed they dont show it from the front. Meaning does it have alot of padding. Would like to see it on somebodies head, and if it has the MUSHROOM
I may just end up gettin a Novelty Bultwell and turn the warning label inside out. Its got alot of padding also. So I dont think I will have any probs with the PO PO. Besides you can get it in Black Mega Flake, beautiful helmet.
After reading 11 or so pages of this thread, I still find no concensus on which DOT Helmet looks the "coolest". I started riding with one of those "football" type helmets and it was good for when it was cold or raining, by snapping on the face shield. I later went to a novelty scull cap, which was fine in FL. , But now in NC, I understand the heat will ticket you for a non-DOT, so being vain like we are, and not wanting to get a $140 ticket, which helmet wins? Or pehaps, buy a small DOT, rip the styro out and put in some cushion foam.
Grampy I tried that. To tear out the Hard padding and put something else in. Yeah the fitment is where its hard to get rite. The fit will be too loose unless you get a smaller size then add padding. But just remember if you run a lid and get stopped the Fuzz may take a look at it. If its not DOT a ticket isnt far behind. I like the retro look and the 3/4 cuts out alot of the wind noise also. Gonna try an decide between a biltwell, bell 500 or a rockhard.
Took my outlaw out for the first time today( 37 degrees!!) and loved it. One thing I noticed is there is no "lift" at higher speeds. Got up to 75 on highway and it wasnt pulling at all. Stilla little work to do with the bat on it, but Im very impressed.
