For creating a notch for the bars, I wonder if I could just tape off the spot, mark a notch on the tape, then use a pneumatic drill with a fine grinder bit and "hone" out the shape that way - thoughts?

you probably could do it that way it will just take longer to cut it
when i did mine i cut a little checked it
did that 4/5 times till i liked the way it fit

That Steel your face does look sweet Keith. Apes are looking awesome too! I'm learning quite a bit from this set of posts. My apes go on my springer this coming Tuesday... went with 1" diameter 12" rise. Been wondering how to handle the forward apes and the windshield,,,now I know how.
