I work at a body shop, one of the first things I did was to remove the reflectors. We have a rotary with what looks like a giant eraser on it, made for this kind of thing. It takes off double sided tape, pin stripes etc. without any fear of chemical damage to the paint. I just gently pulled them off by hand and ran the eraser tool over it. Took less than 5 min. Most body shops should have this tool and a good one shouldn't charge you much, if they charge you at all.
