Just got my bike back from the 1k mile service. The dealer set the pressure to 40/40.

Well, I take it back. The manual says the max psi in the front tire is 36psi. The tire actually says 42. I'll run it that way for a bit and see how I like it. I just wanted to make sure it was safe which it apparently is.

JMHO
You might have mentioned in an earlier post that I missed, but I don't know what brand 200 you had. Tire compound has a way lot to do with wear. Avons and Metzlers always wore out fast for me while Dunlop and Michellin lasted much longer.

Front tires seem to outlast my rears 2 to 1, regardless of brand.

As far as max pressure is concerned (I know the subject is about worn out),........ Max pressure in the rear can be fun if you want to do a lot of burnouts. LOL (Less traction).

I keep all vehicles at maximum psi stated on the tires. Don't seem to have tire problems for years.
Last time I did that to the ol' ladys' car, it rode like a truck. I suppose what vehical you have makes a difference. On hers they rode like Fred Flinstone tires (made of stone).
