Default HD service parts slow ???

Last september my friend hit a deer while riding his 2002 heritage classic. The main damage was to the front fender, wheel, and forks. He took it in to the local dealer, got an estimate for the repair, and got the parts ordered.

5 months later and the dealer still hasn't received the parts. The dealer has told him they have tried e-mailing and calling HD, but they don't get any replies back from HD. I would think the dealer would be able to get better response from HD than that.

I suggested he talk to another dealer and see if they are seeing similar issues in getting parts.

Has anyone else had issues with getting replacement parts lately?

Nothing should take 5 months to get. I'm quite sure in 5 days with part numbers in hand you could get them delivered. There has to be something wrong here.

Default Slow Harley Parts

Hey Dwludwi, I ordered some parts from Chicago Harley a couple of weeks before christmas and still have not received them. Each time I call to check on the parts I get the same answer, we can't get the parts from Harley Davidson. So They must be something going on with Harley-Davidson parts.

Find another dealer. Case Closed.

And every time I call to check on a part, I always ask for price and availability before I make the purchase. If its in stock, then great. If not, then I won't order it until I have an estimated lead time to receive parts.

Painted parts do take awhile to get....5 months???

I would get the part numbers and start calling other dealers and see if they are having the same issues.

I've heard of alot of people having to wait on parts lately, myself included. Seems unusual to me.

Ordered a replacement front fender on my 07 Heritage in Dec, they had to paint it and it took 3 1/2 weeks. The fender matched perfectly. Ordered from my local HD dealership.
