Default Break switch screw fix???

I post a while back that my front break switch has taken a Sh&t all of a sudden and my break light is on most of the time. If I wiggle the lever it will go on and off and bla bla. Some one posted about a screw to fix it or something along those lines. What are you doing with the screw or how are you fixing it? Talked to the dealer about the warranty but he pretty much told me to screw myself.
Can someone tell me about the screw fix? Thanks

If you take your switch halves apart you will find the switch in the bottom half.

It sounds like it may be slightly misaligned. You might only need to rotate your switch half slightly so that the back of your lever sits squarely on the switch. hold a little brake pressure or stick a 1/16" piece of cardboard or paper in the front of the lever as you rotate that lower switch cover so you dont rip the rubber bootie the switch is protected by.

Hope thats all it is, if the switch is bad, its not a hard replacement, just remember to put back the little pressure spring that sits behind the switch
in the housing.

Hope this helps.

The famous screw fix... the original switch has little plastic **** protruding out of it which hits the lever to turn your brake lights off when you release the lever. This little **** will break off at the slightest whimsy... when it does, take a small screw and carefully screw it into the spot where the **** broke off so that it sticks out about the same distance as the **** used to. I always dab a bit of "super glue" around the area just for added support... and walla!, you now have a little **** that is very difficult to break... and you have screwed the HD Stealer out of selling you a $.02 piece for $50 or so and charging $200 for labor to replace it.

Just like Handy said. There's usually a small hole left on the end where the **** was but just to be safe I take a small drill bit and and drill a pilot hole. Then screw a #4 3/8" machine screw on the end.

Thats not a warranty issue. They will say it your fault. It happens when you change out grips mostly. Its not a defect just a poor made piece.

warranties.. a joke in most case on cars and bikes. Dealer always tries and find a way to get out of it. I see it everyday at work.

Completely different things.

Burned out bulbs and broken factory items happen, that is what the service is for, however when something that is poorly manufactured breaks because of a modification and not "normal wear" that is something else.

That said, I think this is a real crap piece, thank God the repair is easy and cheap.

The switch is not necessarily broken or damaged. I had the same thing happening to me and it was it if there was just a bit too much play between the switch and lever. I took one of those cheap little stick on bumper that you put on your cupboard door and stuck it to the end of the switch plunger and it took up the gap and solved the problem. So far it's worked just fine and hasn't come off yet.
