What are you guys using to mount cameras on your bikes for ride videos? I'm looking for a cheap mount, not a camera or some $300 helmet cam solution.

I've got 11/4 bars and the cheap bar mounts on ebay don't look like they will fit bars over 1".

I got mine from Hot Leathers for just under $50.00. Kinda big but serves the purpose very well, I don't have a pick but it's the only one they sell.

 

Ram-Mount.com That's where I get mine. Around $30 for a solid mount and it comes with different size bar clamps. I really like it. You can get different accessory mounts for it also. I got this one from ebay to use it my my flip hd but wasn't bad but because the flip don't have a video stabilization I didn't like it... But the mount works with a 1.25 dia but it's real close... This was taken with the mount...

And this video was taken with those cheap ebay spy video sun glasses they record at 30fps DVR. The sunglasses cost me $.01 and the shipping was $19.99 I also bought a 8gb memory card to god with the glasses for $13.00 for a grand total of $33.00 not bad.

I've used the velcro straps to tie my utlrapod to my handlebars but I've been thinking of using a photography super clamp instead. The original is made by Manfrotto: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...lamp_with.html. But there are lots of versions out there for about $20 like this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Standard.html. This one is less bulky: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ano_Clamp.html. If you want more flexibility to aim the camera add this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Ball_Head.html (not for a heavy camera though). This mount is easy on/off and leaves nothing in place when not in use.

 

Second the RAM mounts been using them for years both for camera and GPS. Lots of different styles and options

 

I originally had the mount for my GPS, and just bought the $8 camera mount. Now I can switch between the two if I wan to know where I'm going or take pics. They are very sturdy mounts.

 

Thanks everyone for the options. Daddy-O, I really like the links you posted because it looks like I could install and remove that mount in seconds without tools. I had a RAM mount for weird shaped BMW handlebars but didn't use it much because time needed to take on/off.

Update ** Since my bloggie camera is so small and light I just ordered the manfroto and ball mount solution Daddy-O suggested.

 

I was looking into this today and found with the small "nano" clamp you'll need a 1/4"-20 stud to connect the clamp to the ball mount. Manfrotto makes a version of the clamp (the 386BC) that includes the stud for $3 extra but it's backordered everywhere. Sorry, I didn't catch they both had female sockets when I made my original post. If you got that one, you should be able to use a short (.5"-.75") 1/4"-20 stud (threaded rod) with a nut in the middle from a hardware store. The other two larger clamps come with the stud.
