I rode fast when younger. A flat at those speeds wouldn't be pretty.

Yup, been there, done that. As a matter of fact, I'd be a little nervous taking my Deluxe past 100 mph (if it will even go that fast). But, I got my Harley to ride in style, not go fast.

Now in my youth, that's a different story. 133 mph indicated, probably around 125 mph actual on an '83 Honda Interceptor. At those speeds it's HP vs. wind resistance. Wide open on a highway in Nevada, it just wouldn't go any faster. Car: About 110 in a '76 Lancia Scorpion. I got a Porsche last summer but haven't had the chance (or nerve) to open it up and see what she'll do. I think it's supposed to do 157 mph.

165 in my Vette
155 in my previous '97 Vette
135 on my '80 Z1r
Hit 110 quite frequently on my Fatboy... had it up there today as a matter of fact.

I try to keep the speed down under 100, as they will usually take you straight to jail if they catch you, and I don't run from the law any more (too friggin' old to deal with all that crap, and it seems to be a much more serious matter these days).

Got the need for speed though, that is for sure.

Fastest I've been was 195 on a 2001 GSXR 1000 (had a few mods ) got pulled over, actually boxed in by, 4 state troopers on bikes and 4 sheriffs on i90 in Washington state in grant county at 5:30am on a Sunday, ticket was written for 168 in a 70, needless to say that cost me a day in jail and 2 Years of court, no more sportbikes for me

heh heh had to chuckle when I read this man. I've been in a very similar situation years ago. I don't need to go real fast any more, BUT when I wanna hit I do and it works. I've been to 110 and the geometry just in right my bike for that speed or higher for any length of time for my liking anyway. When I got this sucker I knew what I wanted to do with it, I'm 59 and been fast all my riding carrer. Don't get me wrong, I still am 15 over is my motto but I'm not crazy fast anymore, But if I decide to pass a couple cars and a big truck and I think I can, By God I'm gonna do it. I guess it's the thrill, crank the throttle, get thrown back and ride like he77. Geez it's great!

The bones will do just over a 100; but it just dont feel that stable much past 90 so I keep it right side. Did 150 on a Suzuki 1200 bandit in France which didn't feel particular safe either ... My Alfa Romeo Brera allegedly does 144 but I only managed 138 ish once ... Not bad for a 2.4 turbo diesel tho. I have more fun on my bones than I ever did on any rice burner / Italian bella I ever owned.
