Thanks for all the replies. The only thing I still don't understand is how does the bag's forward bracket attach to the mount by the passenger foot peg? I don't know about earlier model FLSTC, but the '07 has a rubber bumper with a stud and an acorn nut on it. I just can't picture how the Bubbas use that and if it requires any changes to the bag or the bike.

It's too bad their web site is down now because it would show you how they work. On my 05 FLSTF the bottom mount is a bar from bottom back of the bags to the top of the passenger footpeg. At the foot peg it is "C" shaped and rests over the top of the footpeg mount. It does not bolt to the peg, it sits on top of the peg mount.

In the Bubbas Kit there is a chrome thumb screw and a tether so you don't loose it. The tether attaches to the bag support with a clamp and stays with the bags when they are off. I kept the chrome acorn nuts when the bags are off as the stud looks bad with nothing on it. The Bubbas is the best way to go but it is 4 bills to get them and the QR side plates for the sissy bar. Well worht it. You will want to take the sissy bar off at some point so you might as well get the whole kit. Got saggy bags.com is around $120. Keeps the bags looking new. The bags will start sagging after 6 months if you don't get it. If you like that look (some people do) don't get the gotsaggybags. I personally think the straight look appears much nicer.

No wonder I'm confused as to how the forward strut attaches, here's what Bubba's emaild me a few weeks ago when I asked the same question, "There is a “crows foot” at the end of the support rod that sits on the foot peg brace or the z bracket and spool for the pass foot board. All these parts come with the Bubba’s kit (including the support rods)."

Could someone take a picture of this forward strut attachment and show me, I guess I'm dense.

will Bubba's work with the smaller Nostalgia bags? They're probably 75% the size of all yours (I'm guessing).

I thought people liked Easy Brackets more than Bubbas for some reason, but forgot why... but this thread shows Bubba's being the prime choice. Hmmm, decisions decisions.

BTW, has anyone seen a removable luggage rack for 1-ups? I haven't seen anything that I've liked but would love to have something that goes over my fender where the rear seat would be allowing me to tie down a bag, then remove the entire rack/bag all at once. That would be ideal for me.

If I remember correctly, it had to do with security. I know Easy and Ghost Brackets are lockable, but Bubba and Barebacks I think are not.

I had the Easy Brackets on my Low RIder and they are lockable, but I didn't like how far out from the fender they put the bags.

Bubbas bring the bags much closer to the fender than Easy Brackets. If you dont have a sissy bar the bags are up against the fender strut. If you have a sissy bar they are no more than 1/4" away (if you are using their sissy bar side plates. The Bubbas system has better support than the easy brackets because it has the lower leg support , to support the bottom of the bags (like the HD factory support ) So they dont just mount at the top. The Bubbas system does not lock like the Easy brackets but if your saddlebags lock it cant be removed because the bags unscrew from the inside. So it is secure.

Did bubbas change their set-up? On their site they show a pin type connection rather than thumb screws.
