Default 16" or 18" Rear Wheel? Do they make an 18" White Wall?

Im getting ready in the next few weeks to order the Ride Wright 120 spoke rear to match my front wheel. That will finish off my winter mods (got chrome sliders, springer saddle bag guard, and some chrome bits comin too). Im in the air about what size to get. I know most guys with the So Cal style bike like mine run a 16" rear, but I ran an 18" rear on my 08 Fatty and my pops has a 21/18 Fat Daddy combo on his Heritage and it looks pretty sick. He runs blackwall metzlers though. Im really leaning towards the 18" as I like the bigger wheel look, but im not sure if they make a wide white wall tire in 18" for the rear. If you know of one post up or just give me your opinion on the 16/18 debate. Thanks

I just checked the Shinko site and did not see an 18" rear. Post up where to get these so I can carry them!

I'd be interested in knowing if they make white walls for 18" wheels. I am considering ride wright fat spoke wheels and would like to go with the 18's.

I have done lots of research on this subject. This is what I found out.Vee Rubber is the only manufacturer to produce a factory 120-70-21 and a 150-60-18 (along with some other sizes) WWW tires.A set of the size mentioned would run about 450.00.But these tires are not easy to find.Apparently the first run of the Vee's had poor quality WW.Problems with yellowish tint, browning and nicks and such on the side wall. The "new" batch have apparently addressed these issues? Some people also question the tires reputation and build quality(I have no first hand knowledge of this) because they have not been in production that long. Shinko does not make a 18" WWW tire. A company named Hot Hawgz takes Shinko black wall tires and adds WW through some process. They also have several sizes but a set of these will run you over 700.00 and will require some wait time as well.Another company that will take a black wall and turn it into a WWW is Diamond Back Tire.Theses run about 800.00 a set.I think they use the Metzler ME 880.But they could most likley use any tire you want. The Dunlop WWW listed here is a front tire only. They do not sell a matching rear.Think those are pretty much all your options for now.Unless you want to use WW tire paint.IMHO thats a quick fix, good from far but far from good option.Hope this helps.

Just get a 16x3.5 if you want to run a whitewall. It so much easier to find a new tire and what would happen if you need one on the road?

I'll stick with 16" rims, I don't want to spend a small fortune for tires that I will wear out in 10 to 15 thousand miles. Drew, would the factory dunlop tires fit ride wright 16" front and rear wheels?
