Default $200 Oil change?

I love my Heritage Classic, but I was ticked when the dealer quoted almost $200 for an oil change - regular oil, not synthetic.

Claims there is 2 hours of labor involved. I told him I don't want the bike checked out, just the oil changed. 2 hours of labor?

Am I nuts, or is this somewhat extreme for a simple oil change?

Seems too much. A 60.$ shop manual and simple tools will do it.

Buy a service manual or subscribe to an on-line one. Check out Cyclepedia, I have a subscription to one of their online manuals for one of my bikes, I'd highly recommend it. Lots of pictures and descriptions. It'll pay for itself the first time you skip a dealer visit. The cost of oil and a filter is negligible plus you'll know it is done right.

There are 3 holes that have to be drained and refilled. I would do it myself. A manual is $60. A few tools and some oil and you are well on your way.

Crazy prices! That is why I do all I can myself and the things that are over my head I take to a great shop other than the stealers.
