Shitalmighty dude,we're talking oil change here, hell most of us have been changin oil since our 1st vehicles at 16-17 years old. It's not rocket science.I do mine, minimum, late winter as part of the little ritual of cleaning up the bike, detailing it,fluid change ,tire pressure check, etc in anticipation of that 1st spring ride.
But then I see ya got ya a new Harley with all kinds of expensive stuff done to it,bet you rolled it right outa the dealership that way, huh?

Harley's are SO easy to change the oil in, and the primary and trans is easy too. You can do it without a jack. Damn Gina, the oil filter is right there on the front of the motor! So easy a caveman can do it. All 3 holes in less than an hour.

If you don't want to buy a manual, save these 3 sites:

Did all 3 holes for $70.00. That was synthetic in all 3 holes, filter and 1qt of Lucas. No manual needed for this, it is common sense. My stealer wanted close to $300.00 for the 1000mi service.
I don't get the dealers. I know they are there to make money but they are way off in my opinion. I called 3 dealers the other day to see what they wanted to do a 107" swap and just labor and no parts and I got told 7 hrs at one, 10 hrs and the second and 12 hrs at the 3rd-LOL

My dealer does the 1K free. But I have done my own since 1956 on at least 30 bikes and 10 different makes. I change my own tires and do all the work that has ever been needed so far.

I just can't see any value in paying that amount of money for the scheduled services. It is not a rip off if every thing on the service is done like the critical fastener list and all the other items in addition to the oil in three holes and filter. But, since I can do it myself, I will not pay for the work.

We all have read many posts where everything from the drain plug was not tightened to the brake caliper was loose after a dealer service.

When I do it, I KNOW that it is done right.
