You haven't provided enough info. What is the mileage? Look @ your owners manual; it shows the required service for any given mileage. There is always a punch-list of stuff to do @ each oil change--this takes time/some expertise. But if you're handy, you can probably do it all yourself for just the cost of filter/gaskets/oil.

That is out of control for just an oil change, sounded like you got a 5K. Your owners manual has the directions for changing the fluids. If you don't use a torque wrench, don't go crazy tightening things up. About 1/4 turn past finger tight. It is pretty easy to do all 3, just follow the directions. Be careful with the engine oil as it is easy to overservice as the 3 qrts be a little too much--on a softail. Easily resolved with a turkey baster if you get too much. Buy a can of PJ1 Super Cleaner. That stuff rocks for cleaning up around the oil filter.

Default erl change

Only had stealer do service up to 1K and then did my own oil changes from there. My Indy does the trans and primary when called for. Google scavenger oil change system, not a bad way to go.

Whats scary is that there is no way a dealer can quote prices like that to potential customers is there weren't people still happy to pay them.

A Guy I know bought a new 1200. Dealer says bring it back at 1000 mile for his first service. He did thinking it was complimentary, they wanted $300.

Way too much. One of the easiest DYI maintenance project on a bike.

On the whole 5000 Service, there's only 2 things that need be taught. Primary and internal clutch adjustment. The rest is pretty much common sense.
