Default Prospective 2007 Fat Boy owner - Opinions pleas

Hello all. First post here in the forum. I've been hanging around reading some posts, doing some research. I'm after my first HD and like the bigger softails, ie Fatboy, Deluxe, and Heritage. I've found a good deal on an 07 Fat Boy but have read about the front wheel offset. My question is how much does this affect handling and tracking? Does the front tire wear unevenly? I could live with the cosmetic "eye sore", but wouldn't be able to tolerate it if the functionality is compromised. 2007 Fat Boy owners please chime in with your experiences. Thanks!

Some of teh 07 fatboy's had issues other than that as well. My buddy has an 07 and there was an issue with the rims cusing a sever head shake. He has the extended warranty and all, and when the dealer discovered the issue the said the extended warranty did not cover this. He had to get an attorney to threaten to sue in order to get it covered. This was an 07 only issue as far as I know and not all that common, but something to think of. There was also the dreaded can of rocks transmission issue due to the new 6 speed that was sorted out in 08 with a cush drive. I am not saying to not buy it, but be aware of these possible issues.

I have an 07 FB and even though I don't ride it as much as I would like it's not because of any issues. The offset wheel is only cosmetic IMO. I have taken both hands off the bars and it tracks fine. No pronounced wear on the front tire that I can see. The "can of rocks" was noticeable when I first bought it but I use Mobil 1 Synthetic and now I don't notice it. Never heard about the rims causing head shake. If you can get a good deal on it I say go for it.

Default my 07

i have an 07 and the bike tracks fine. i love it. the tranny is a little noisy but im doing a redline fluid change in the next few weeks...ill post my review of it, but everyone i talk to says it quiets the tranny up nicely

i also recently found an 08 front wheel for 50 bucks and some 08 front forks for about 50 also. i will be changing out my front forks this winter...i had planned on blacking out the front end anyways, as wsell as the rest of the bike. so i figured, why not go ahead and fix any possible offset issues before they come up.

No issues with the tracking or the tranny noise with mine. I do use Redline, which helped the tranny greatly, but not one of my tires in 30,000 miles so far has worn unevenly.

Thought I'd replied to this one yesterday... may have been a similar thread, or likely I'm losing what little of my mind I have left!

Regardless, I'd do it again and never look back. I love my '07 Fatboy, have been extremely pleased with it since Day One, have not had any adverse issues with it, don't notice the offset nor has it had any impact on handling or wear, and my tranny is just fine. I did change to Mobil 1 synthetic at the first service interval and it has worked just great... it has been so long that I can't recall whether there was excessive noice in the tranny or not, but I can say that I didn't notice it at the time if there was.

Fatboys kick ****!

Hi, I have an 07 and 09 fatboy. The 07 has 14,000 miles on the original tires. The front tire has cupped a little but with that many miles I wont complain. Both bikes seem to handle the same so i say if its a good deal go for it. Mike

Forgot to mention I've got nearly 11,000 miles on my original front tire now... not bad for having the "offset issue"!
