Default Round air cleaner size

I am probably going to enclose my air filter next season but want to keep it as minimal as possible. I was thinking about either the round black x-bones cover or the chrome smooth cover. My question for x-bones owners: What is the diameter of the stock round cover & is it cut out along the bottom? If anybody has the Chrome Smooth cover (pn# 29153-07), what is the diameter of it?

Thanks

Diameter is 8 inches.
No cut out in the metal cover as the air intake is in the plastic base.
(guess that is the cut out you are talking about?)

An 8" cover fits nicely over a Wood 325 cfm element, but is really not needed unless you have an engine that is really pulling on the carb/t/body.

I run a SE stage I AC and use a stock 80" round cover. I think they are 8" diameter. It does have a small rectangular cutout that I face downward so you don't see it. I used heat and solvent and removed the brushed aluminum trim that said 80" Softail, or something like that. Then polished the chrome. Looks nice and it only cost about $5.00 at a swap meet.
