I was making a left turn at a 4-way stop. Stopped and took my turn. A car coming in the opposite direction, made a right turn right into me once I got through the intersection. We were both going very slow, but her front bumper touched my back tire, and then my back right turn signal dragged down the side of her car. No damage to the bike other than a little scratch on the side of my amber turn signal. The lady had a 4 foot scratch down the side of her car. Had the Harley dealer check it out and they said there was no damage.
The first thing the lady said when she got out of her car was "You motorcycles just come out of nowhere." Even when you're doing the right thing, people will run into you. Anyone else have similar close calls?
Yea, I've had car drivers right beside me change lanes and shove me off the road, twice. Keeping space around me is my number one rule as long as I can do it.
Glad you and the bike are ok! Good call on having the dealer check it out for ya. Should've told the lady "it DOES seem like we come out of nowhere when people don't pay attention to what they are doing! Were you on your cell phone, putting on make-up, or something?"
I could see her face as she was turning. She was looking at her husband in the passenger seat and yelling at him. Knew right then that she was not going to look or stop as she made the right turn.
Glad to hear you came out of that allright. Good thing YOU were paying attention. Just anouther example of someone toolin around in there cage clueless!
Glad to hear you came out relatively unscathed, but lets keep this in perspective. She wasnt at fault. Since you were making the left in front of her, guess who's responsibility it is to watch out for who? Just because we ride bikes doesnt mean everyone else is in the wrong.
