Default dumbass fever, I caught it!!

So in the course of winter mods last year, I went a little cheaper on the wheels. Got the polished aluminum Thunderstar wheels instead of the mirror chrome. Like the look of the wheels, but the maintenance sucks some major ****. So this is where the dumbass fever sets in and it doesnt seem to be goin away. Im at the point of buying new wheels and tryig to sell the old ones, or chrome plating the ones I have. Anyone have any experience with this (the wheels, not the dumbass part).

You might give metal gloss a chance. I bought some at a boat show a couple of years ago and it's pretty good stuff. I used it in the mag wheel of my FXSTC. First you polish it with their polish and then seal it with the sealer. After that you can just wash it and it looks like it's been polished. It's the best thing I've found.

Post up some pics those wheels, I didn't know you could buy them in a polished finish. I have Thunderstar wheels also, mine are textured chrome. I haven't had the bike long but they appear to be easy to maintain.

Neverdull works great on everything from chrome to polished alum.

Take some good close up pictures and bring them to a couple chrome shops. Then email them the same pics to a few more chrome shops out of state such as Browns Custom Plating. Get quotes on what getting them chromed will cost as well as the shipping. Now you know where your at. If you decide to sell on ebay, and buy new ones.....thats also an option. Just remember, no one is shopping on ebay to pay top dollar for used wheels. They can pay top dollar for new ones. If you do try to sell them you will get an a$$ whoopin' for sure. But if the loss outweighs what chroming costs, then its worth it. I'm with you here, I really am. I simply DO NOT like polished rims. Too much maintenance for the desired look. Good luck, and post up pics.

Neverdull is a great product but you need to seal the wheels after polishing or you will polish constantly.

+1 on the Neverdull - works like a charm on my spoke wheels..... once you polish them one good time, it's easier and easier - not a constant job at all

Bikerlaw, thats some sound advice. Believe me, I have been figuring up every cost scenario to see what works best. I am well aware of the asswhoopin I'll take on the less than 1 year old wheels. Got estimates from a few places for $550 to $650 plus shipping on the plating. Then figuring cost to remove bearings, install new ones when wheels are done. Remounting tires, etc... Probably should just quit bitchin and get to polishing I guess. Here is a pic.
