How much would a routing service like this cost in the US??
About $65-70 for an oil change, if I use Amsoil and a K&N filter from the local indy shop and do it myself. I can spend a few minutes changing oil to save $200.

Get the factory shop manual and the parts book for your model and do your own services. The books ain't cheap but will pay for themselves the first oil change. Save your receipts and keep a record of all your oil changes, etc.in case of any warrantee issues.

I made the mistake of going to the Stealer when I bought mine (used) for the first change. I figured they might see issues before they turned into more than I could handle. Since this was my first HD and was not real familiar with them, I figured the dealer would never steer me wrong right? :P

$300 later for a three hole change and a filter, I vowed never to go back.

Even with a fork oil change this past change cost me less than $90. AND it gave me more time to get into places that I had missed when detailing the engine prior.

+10 on getting the HD service manual. Worth its weight in gold.

Dont want to sound like a douche but they have the prices listed for the common servicing on the service desk at all the stealerships ive been to so i dont get why you were surprised when you had to pay.

There are alot of guys who just want to ride it. Don't know how to work on em and don't want to. Thats fine, take it to the dealer. I am always suprised to see what a dealer charges for parts, service and merchandise. They don't feel bad about what they charge and I don't feel bad when they go out of business. I like to work on mine and it saves me money to boot. I am not a "real biker", just a middle aged guy who likes to ride and is willing to do most of his own work.

Default Fill for you

Fill for you if you live were you can not do it yourself. If you are, about half that would have got you a service manual, oils , filter and tools to do it. I'm old as dirt and about half as smart as I once was but I do it with little problem.
