After being taken for everything ( my black lab of 10 yrs included) from a professional man user in Canada-really, she did it to 5 other man I found out later-LOL I went the day after the break up and came home with the fatboy. It was my treat to myself.
What ever bike you go with treat yourself and enjoy, You only live once!
Get the tour ride and keep the softtail. Two bikes are better than one.

Sell all the stuff you have for the softail and get a touring to ride with the girl and keep your baby for the solo times. Best of both worlds

Or make sure everything is detachable, get Shotgun shocks or similar to adjust the height and damping, and you can have the best of both worlds all with one:
