Can anyone tell me how to remove the Concho/Leather panel on the back of a Heritage Backrest?

Thanks

Just by looking, seems like you can take the pad off and get to the tangs on the other side of the tan leather. Just a guess.

That's the problem, you can't get the pad off. The Pad is held on by another screw that is behind the Leather panel.

Yep, and the leather is held on by some NASTY double stick tape. Use a blow drier to warm it up, and I used a paint stick which I sanded to a sharper blade edge to pry it off.

Use Goo-gone liberally to get the rest of the crap off.

You will find that the screw is a normal philips head screw. I wanted to put an HD medallion back there, so I had to use a 1/2" counter sinking bit to countersink the hole and I used a countersunk screw so that it would be flush to the back plate.

The last picture was before I cleaned it up, but you get the idea.

If I recall correctly, the concho is held on with some strings which go behind the leather, I believe I pried the concho a bit with a screwdriver then while it was pried open a bit I cut the strings with a utility knife.
