Something I have heard from someone along my way is that it has to do with the geometry of the rear suspension and the way it works on the softails makes it very very hard to wheelie

That's what I was wondering. I know I have plenty of power, just can't get the grip or weight transfer. Mostly just lite up the rear tire.

It depends on what kind ground I'm on... If the asphalt is kinda gritty the tire bites and mine will come up only a few inches... Atleast that what my friend riding next to my says.
I'm to busy trying to stay on the seat notice... lol

A truly determined lunatic can do just about anything, if the bike is set up right.
The problem with a Softail is that the bike has too low a center of gravity, is too long, and its too heavy up front.
In the case of a Fatboy, that nice fat front fork, fender, and tire setup only makes the too heavy front end situation that much worse.
Not saying it can't be done, but its probably going to take someone who weighs under 150lbs. with little or no brains on a bike with a lot more power, stiffer suspension, and better traction than can be reasonably expected from anything like a stock Softy.
Me I can get into enough trouble with both wheels on the ground, so at my age I'm not too keen on trying to ride close to half a ton of bike (with my *** on it) on just one.

Rolling burnouts are WAY more fun than wheelies. A tad bit safer too...IMO.
