Black Axle Covers on an 06
I installed the black axle covers on my 06 fatboy today and when I put everything back together I used the replacement washer which is thinner on the rear axle. I had to do this because when you mount the brackets on the axles they add some width therefore you use the thinner washer in order to keep clearances accurate and so that the hole lines up to put the cotter pin through. When I read the directions, they said the thinner washer should only be used on 2000 models. My question is this, mine is an 06 and it seemed necessary to use the thinner washer. Do the directions mean 2000 and later models?
I used the stock (thicker) washer at first and the lug nut would not tighten down enough to get the cotter pin through, thats when I use the thinner washer and all seemed to line up appropriately.
This just made me wonder why the directions would say 2000 models only?

While WARG is providing his pictures, take a look at the 3 pictures I took of my black axle covers finished job, note the red LED lights I put behind the covers and the brand new 210/50-17 Metzeler rear tire.
