This may sound like a stupid question but I will ask any way. Is the seat post not a structural necessity any more and is this mod safe. Thanks for any info.

I just took mine out last night. Can't possibly be structural. Just stamped steel.

the seat post holds the coil and poses NO problem when removed for this mod

My bike makes 116/116 and I have no issues without the post. I used an RSD motor mount for the coil, and mounted the horn on the cross piece between the downtubes where a crashbar would mount.

It's a much cleaner look.

Thanks I appreciate the info. Looks like I will be doing the same mod to my Fatboy. It does clean things up.

So far so good... haven't put the tank back on yet as you can see, but everything is starting to come together.

That's a great twist on this mod that i haven't seen before. Is your bike EFI? I'm about to move my horn to that spot and was wondering how much room there is.

Exile makes a kit to relocate the coil above the shocks under the splash guard
