Can't find a darn thing in my 08 manual. Just seems weird that the MoCo would omit a torque spec on this. I agree 30lbs seems like alot for that size screw but considering that my handlebar clamp screws are about the same size and the spec on them is 18ft lbs, that would seem like a reasonable torque. Maybe you had a screw with a weak spot on it.
