Default Spray Painted Primary Cover and Oven!

Decided to save some money and rattle can my primary cover instead of forking out the 300 bucks for the wrinkle black from HD.

After a bunch of coats i put that badboy in the oven for 15 minutes and it looks like the paint is solid!

Has someone else done this? any advice to make the paint stick better?

I've done the same thing on parts. Used my heat gun for some and the oven for others. Works great. Powdered coated a set of pipes and they chipped off. So I rattlecand them and baked them in the oven. Worked better than the pc.

Getting paint to stick is all about the prep work before the actual painting. Did you scuff it up nice first?

400 grit may be OK. I'd have done something rougher than that. I use 80 grit aluminum oxide on guns before spray finishing (GunKote/Duracoat).

Looks good - a professional powdercoater would've been cheaper than buying HD replacement, but yours looks fine. Good job!
