Default Heritage Risers

I have a 2010 Heritage softail classic. I'd like the handlebars a little closer to me. My question is how much closer will 4" curved risers be, then the stock mounts? Does 4" mean they are 4 inches higher then the stock mounts? If I install the 4' riser, will I have to change any of the cables?

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

I loosened the risers and rotated the bar towards me a bit. It required me to adjust the grips as well, but it was pretty easy and didn't cost anything. You may want to give that a try before spending those hard-earned dollars!

also try Deluxe risers , a little pulled back and a little taller, no need to change any cables or wires.

I put on the 2 1/2" pull back Drag Specialties risers on my 09 FLSTC. I did not have to change cables except to leave off one of the front brake cable attachement clamps. I loosened and adjusted the cable clamp on the bottom of the steering head tube. I also pulled the handle bars back until my elbows were bent. That made all the difference in the world. My friends with FLSTC's have done the same with no problems. I had to change the top plate on the handle bar clamp as the stock one had a different bolt pattern than the aftermarked risers.

There's more adjustment doing this than you think. When I bought my '02, a midget must have owned it before me the bars were adjusted so far back!

You can rotate the bars back a few inches and you can put pb risers on to give you a couple more. If you like the look and it works for you that's great.

If not, drop the 400-500 bucks and put bars on the bike that fit you and with high quality cables. With a manual and some basic tools it's not that big of a job.

Just take your bike to the dealership and they will adjust the bars for your needs while you are setting on the bike... Risers will offer very little reach adjustment. They are more for height... but look cool!

You buy PULLBACK risers in the flavor that suits you. Mine are 2 up and 2 back. Suits me well with Chubby 515's
