I put 25k on my hardtail shovel before I sold it. I'll stick with softails now.

Same question I had.

BUT, if I was building a hardtail, I'd start by buying a new frame - they're around $1K all over the place and you could probably make more by selling the softail frame if you didn't want it anymore. At that point, you'd have spare change to get a frame modified a little for the Twin Cam if you don't find one built to fit it and you'd have a nice smooth hardtail frame without some weld-on rigged up parts.

There was the one done by Fab Kevin that I have been looking for. Apparently lowered the weight of the frame quite a bit.

Thanks for the pics Crash. Big H that was an Evo that Fab Kevin did. Shaved like sixty pound off the frame.

To you guys that ask why I say why not? I'm pretty young, and want to do something diffrent. As far as a diffrent frame at over 1000 bucks, I will be into hardtailing it for about 150 bones. It's apperant you've never ridden a slammed softail, they ride and corner like ****.

Man, you are way more badass than I am. LOL.....I am sure it will be an intersting project, keep us posted. I know I would hate to ride it for any particular length, but hats off to you. Are you going to at least run a sprung seat?

That guy does some sweet work G. Brokeback mountain. Wonder if Chuck and Mark know him. I'd kill for half those tools. It's on just ordered 20' of 1 1/4" dom. Gotta get the shovel put back together first. Can't live without a bike to ride.
