Deluxe owners, need your help!
Hey All,
For those of who may or may not know HogDeluxe was born right here out of the HDForums. Our first Deluxe saddlebags were designed and tested with the help of members of this forum. I’m certain that this has been one of the reasons we’re so successful. The other reason is we make a quality products at a fare price.
Well here we go again. I have had a ton of requests to make saddlebag specifically for a Softail Deluxe with true duals. The saddlebags that seem to be popular are the Softail Springer bags that are no longer available and sell on eBay for close to $2000.00. So were going to release a new set of bags with the help of forum members again. A lot of guys love the old school look of these bags. With the flip over tops and the close tapered look, they look really good on a Deluxe. There are also riders that would also like a bag the looks a little different and more along the look like our current saddlebags.
So here’s what I want to do. If you could have anything you wanted in a set of saddlebags for a Deluxe with true duals what are feature and functions you would like. For instance, is it size, is it non sag, is it close fit, what are the thing you would like. Feel free to post what you would want to see. If you currently own a set of the Springer saddlebags tell us what you like, and don’t like about them.
For you effort I will create a special price just for the guys that contribute through their posts to the design and development of these new bags. Thanks in advance for your help and let’s make this fun.

I like the look of the springer bags but what sold me on your solo bags was the recessed backs that hide the quick detachable EZ brackets giving the fit of the bags that really clean tight look against the rear fenders. Now if you could develope a set of bags that have the springer look but the recessed backs with the quick detachable EZ brackets now that would be really nice. Of course I would like to see a set for us folks with the standard Deluxe twin pipes as well as the true duels.

I always wanted the springer bags for my Deluxe, but the money for them was crazy. So I went with osprey look-a-likes. Likes and dislikes you might keep in mind;
likes:
the inside is flat so the bags hold more
you have fringe, concho and reflector options
the belts are quick release
dislikes:
the zipper runs from front to back instead of top to bottom, doesn't look right from the back
Hope this helps you in your endeavor, I'm all for aftermarket Harley stuff!

For me, I think it is more of a styling thing than function. I have yet to find a saddlebag that I couldn't "make work" from a function standpoint. However, I haven't found one yet that from a styling aspect blends with what I am trying to do with my bike, which is a form of the So-Cal style. It would be really nice to be able to have a quick detach bag that would perform well for the daily commute to work, come off quickly for bike nights and round trip weekend rides, but then be there to throw on for the cruise down to bike week. For me, matching the stock seat styling does no good as the stock seat is being replaced with a Lepera once it arrives. All the studs and tassels, for me, don't fit with the rest of the bike.
To add to my rambling, I think I would prefer something that is deeper top to bottom and less wide to look a little sleeker. I personally like soft saddlebags as opposed to hard. Locking it not very important to me as if they're quick detach I just take them with if I'm carrying for an overnight. Otherwise, I won't have anything in there I'm worried about getting stolen.

I'm with IceColdDeluxe, I would love to have quick detachable bags, but all the bags are too bulky and does not suit the look of my ride. Most guys running duals on their Deluxe are after a certain styling and most bags just don't suit that styling. Only bags I've seen that look cool are the slimline HD hardbags.

i am sure you can make a better bag, from the looks of your current bag lines. I really like your bags. I would like a tour bag made Heritage Springer style. I am talking about the roll bag for the rear fender or sissybar. They are out of production and command a hefty price. And it would be easy to make. I just havent bothered yet. They would probably sell well for you.
But, the Heritage Springer bags are still available. I bought a new set less than a year ago. And they were making them at the time. Only people who are too lazy to do any research buy the overpriced ones on ebay.

So if I understand the concept you’re looking for, it’s that old school 50's look. Where the lid lays over the top of the bag like a cowboy saddlebag. Where the bags are narrow at the top.
One of the problems with making them narrow, especially in my case is that I want them as close as I can get to the fender strut. On a softail the swing arm travels 4.3 inches from stop to stop. So the relief needed to clear it takes away space on the inside of the bag, especially when there is no sissy bar. This is most notable on the Heritage bags.
But I think what most people want in that triangular shape when viewed from the back of the bike. This is really getting juices following. If anyone has an old school bike with this look please post it. I have visions of the old Harley pan heads.
