I knowe I'll regret letting the cat out of the bag but we're working on a bag that replaces the rear pillon but looks exactly like it! With a hidden pop up latch.

I hope that you make it with a way to attach it to the factory rack. I have a NR roll bag bit just does not cut it with looks. Please keep us posted!

On our Deluxes there three bolts on the side rail of the bike. The Springer bags us the front and center bolts (6/1/4) instead of the front and rear bolts (91/4). The problem with using the narrower pattern is that it limits my strength and the amount you can put in a saddlebag. Here's what I'm looking for feedback on. 1) does it matter if I move the bags back an inch or so or 2) should I make the opening wider and clean up the look of these bags?
I would make them to mount like the Heritage bag (9 1/4 in.) I need to be able to load everything I can in my bags without having to worry about overloading them. I have the Heritage Springer seats and would like a set of bags too.... can't wait to see what you come up with!

As said above....make sure to follow the flow of the rear fender.

I hated the factory Deluxe bags so I made some brackets to fit on the Heritage bags. I would LOVE to have a set of bags from a 97 Heritage but they are sick money. My floorboard fringe (from a 97 Heritage Springer) has the burgundy trim that matches the bugundy stripe on my tank. Would love to have a set of bags to match with the burgundy piping like on the Heritage Springer bags.

One of the things I don't like about the Springer bags is the small opening at the top. IMHO I think the zippers was an after thought when they realized that they needed to clear the tail lights.

I have gone over this over and over again and it looks like I can make a set of bags just like the Springer bag but with more space inside as I will not be using a steel rod in the back. I can also clean up the bags so you don't have to look at a bunch of ugly seems in the leather on the front. I also want to fill that gap that's on the side of the lids.

One other thing if I move the bags back just a little it will give you more clearance to run the Deluxe saddlebag guards. That's one other thing to consider. Plus without a tail light on the strut I can get away with just a small amount of movement to the rear

Hi All,

Here's an update on the new Springer style saddlebags that we will be releasing soon. I just got off the phone with the manufacturer that makes our tubs and I will have the backs for our new Old School Saddlebags (Springer Style) on Tuesday. These bags are shaped like the 97 Springer Style and are 22x14x7. They are slightly bigger at the top so I can accommodate the larger Easy Brackets 9 1/4 centers. This allows these new bags to work with or without the Deluxe detachable sissy bar. They will be available two ways; with the old school flip over soft top and with the same top we currently offer on our other bags. Both will be tooled to match the seat and your choice of 2 or 3 strap configurations. I will post pictures of the first bags next week. I currently have some pre-orders. If you interested please let me know and I’ll send you pictures via email.

Default heritage springer bags on the deluxe

these are all good ideas for the new bags , we really like the springer bags but they would look better if they would have a fold in the front and back that would allow the bag to hang close when not carrying much (cruzin the beach) and then would "expand" as you start to fill it this way it would not have that big "over hang" look . because w/ the narrow 140/150 tire on the deluxe , the "A" shape of the bag is just too big, or at least have an option for this type of bag , i think the bags should keep the soft look and feel and the they would "hang "close and expand as you add the ice and beeer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ,but thats just my option and i could be wrong !!!
thats what iam looking for is a bag thats hangs close w/ a botton that is in proportion w/ the back of the bike that can expand at the top as you fill it....thats what the buckles are for ....and that would end up straight up and down if full .... but should hang as low as possible for aftermarket pipes , not the shotgun pipes as on the stock deluxe or fat boy , and they should cover the entire rear wheel from front to back ......
