Default fender rails on Deluxe

has anyone mounted the heritage fender rails on a 2009 Deluxe - the HD 2010 parts catalogue say they fit Deluxe model years 00 - 06. Don't understand what would have changed in the fender style for 07 and later that they won't fit. Actually reads like rear rail would fit but not the front.

Yup, I have them on mine ('09).

Reason why they say it won't work is because Deluxe fenders lack the small light on the fenders, where an additional tab on the rails bolt to. I stuck a piece of double-stick foam tape (for automotive trim) on there to prevent rattling. Got that tip from someone on this forum.

Additionally, for the rear rail, you'll need to drill holes through your rear fender on either side. That was daunting, but turned out just fine. Careful not to hit your tire with the drill bit if you do it without removing your rear fender.

Ive got em. They fit. As far as the front they work without anything on the front. I have no rattling problems at all and didnt use tape or anything else.

thanks, guys. Hey Chordstrummer - your seat rail, was that hard to come by and does the mounting align or need slight mod - thanks.

IIRC, it mounted with no mods at all.

It's a HD part (#52687-97)

I believe that seat rail is not in production anymore. Check but if you have trouble finding one let me know. I have a used one Id be willing to part with. Great condition.
