Wired Up My Homemade Sidemount Plate, Now I'm Legal!!! (Lots of Pics)
For those that don't know, I fabed up a sidemount plate using my old fendermount plate fram and my old OEM license plate bracket. Today, with the help of Fireman1501, I got the sidemount plate wired up and hopefully will avoid a ticket. Rob is quite the wiz with the heat gun. Thanks brother for the help. Thanks to Drew (Dr. Vtwin) as well for running out and getting me pics of your setup.
I used some $17 LED tag lights I got from a local shop. We ran the wires through the axle cover, up the undeside of the swingarm and used a t-tap to splice into the blue running light circuit. I finished it off with a ground wire to the bolt in front of the battery. The running lights work great and it's nice to take some random parts lying around and make something out of nothing. Anyway, here' the pics.

Looks good. The led's look nice and bright. Mounting one led on each side of the plate rather then two at the top would light up more of the plate rather then just the top half. Even that would leave a dark spot/strip in the middle of the plate. Talkin from experience Im afraid. lol Close enough - the setup does look good.
