Default Is an 8' enclosed trailer long enough?

The '07 Heritage is in the shop for the weekend, so I can't measure it's total length, but I've decided it needs an enclosed trailer to ride in. I'm shopping the net for a trailer but I don't want it any longer than necessary. Is 8' is enough? I'm thinking about a 5x8 with single axle & ramp door, or would I need a 5x10? I'll need a good floor chock too.

I'm guessing that includes the fishtails? And now I'm wondering if they measure those trailers on the inside or out?

Have had several trailers. Please heed these words. Get as big as your vehicle can handle. You will find yourself doing more then just hauling your bike. I have a 14 x 7 and I find that it is almost perfect. With a trailer of this size you will most likely get dual axles and electric brakes. Also another thing I like about this one is that it doesn't have fender wells on the inside. I have hauled 2 touring bikes in it and enough gear for a week with room for another bike. I have used it to haul furniture and even a very small car. Just seems to be a good size. Good luck on your hunt.

Get at least a 5x10. 6x10 would give you more room for getting around to strap down.

Its actually just under 9' with the fishtails. They only stick out about 2-3" from the back. Pic is deceiving. Eitherway 8' wont do you a lick of good.

I have a 5x10 foot landscape trailer. I totally agree with the above post. Get as big as you can. Kinda like when building a garage. It will never be big enough.

I totally agree with the above. Get a little more, It helps with working on the bike and so on. I am also looking for an enclosed trailer and would not go any smaller than 14X7 or so. You can also sleep in the damn thing and save $100.00 per night!

Softail Heritage:

Length 94.5 in. (2400.3 mm)
Overall Width 39.2 in. (995.0 mm)
Overall Height 44.1 in. (1120.0 mm)

8 feet not going to work! Usually the trailers are measurements are outside ones.

Looks like I better go with at least a ramp door 6x10. I want this to be a dedicated cycle trailer. I do have a 7x7x14 tandem trailer with a ramp door for my Powered Parachute, I have it rigged to haul the Harley as well, but they both need their own seperate hanger. Too much loading/unloading for both to use the same trailer. I have about 2 miles of DUSTY, loose gravel between me and civilization, and don't want to ride through it with this bike. Thanks to all for your imput, I knew I'd get good answers here.
