My softail handles better than any bike I have EVER ridden. And that includes my old shovelheads, in old swingarm frames. If you are used to riding the '78, you will be AMAZED at the comfort, realiability, and ease of riding a Softail.

 

This is only my second Harley (both softails) and while they are not like riding a sport bike, They have NO bad habits. Heavy, and CG not ideal, yea, but they hide no surprises.
