Default Detachable saddlebags on FLSTI

Just wondering if anybody has put Detachable Saddlebags with a Detachable Backrest on there FLSTI? I guess what I am asking is it dooable? I know I have seen alot of bikes with a backrest and saddlebags, but I am wondering how that works with the Detachable Backrest and the saddlebags! If anybody has any pics with them mounted and what they mount too, and then with the saddlebags off I would get more of an understanding by looking at them! Thank you!

1garyh,

If you could, please take a close up the hardware for me. I think I have got it, but if you could email me a pic of that hardware myou have on there, I would fully understand it. Do you happen to have the hardware part# by chance? Email is vipersx04@aol.com, thank you very much for your help.

Are you using the bare back kit or is that a Harley solution? How do you like the bags?

1Garyh,

Here is my hardware that I have on now, will I have to change this to something else? The first is of course without the sideplates and the second is with them on!

If you already have the HD hardware you may not want to start over, but check out www.bubbasbrakes.com , Casey makes a great system for detachable sissy bay and /or bags. it is much cleaner setup than HD and the bag mounts aare 3 point (a2 at the top and a bottom brace) so you can mount full size bags andnot have any movement.

Your side plates are not enough... you will nee the Harley solution(thats what I have) I'll try to dig up the part number. There are additional pieces that go on over the sideplate mounts. You should be able to see them in these pictures.
The question about how I like this set up ..... My bags aren't real big, but for what I use them for they are great. And removal is very quick and easy. So, Yes I'm very pleased with them.

By the way, these are also 3 point mounts. There is a lower mount that you can see in the last picture, The bags are solid as heck and there is no movement.

Thank you very much 1garyh, that really helps me out, I have been scratching my head for weeks trying to figure this out. I have even been to 3 diferent H-D dealers and they haven't really been able to tell me nothing. So Now I think I have got it figured out what I need to order, Thanks again!!!
