Default love the deluxe heres why

As some of you may have read I traded my 06 Street Bob in for an 06 Deluxe in Pearl black complete with large HD saddle bags and 1420 break-in miles. I can't stay off this bike. Yes I loved the Bob too but not like this. It encapsulates everything both pragmatically and fantasy-wise that I have ever wanted in a Harley. The feel is so much better than the Bob in every way.

1. The feel on the road is like velvet. Low and stable. Tracks like a dream.
2. On the freeway it is way more comfortable than the Bob not only ergonomically but also from a handling and stability factor.
3. The weight is much more low and centered than the Bob.
4. It looks like a hawg.
5. It's friggin beautifull
6. its just as powerful as the bob was.
7. the passing lights add a great measure of visibility both for me and to be seen by others
8. Its got a 5 gallon tankl
9. I can ride way longer without a break.
10. the bike carries a load better.
11. Intellectually I know the bob must handle better on cornering but I have yet to notice it in practical riding tests. Prolly only noticeable if I really get aggressive.
12. i can sustain higher speed longer and wayyy more comfortably than on the BOb

Bottomline; I don't miss the Bob at all and really have trouble believing anyone could preferr the dyna over the deluxe - I just can't see it from my experience. Makes you wonder why folks choose the bob over the deluxe when they have a choice./ I didnt have a choice at the time.

When I did finally have the choice it was a no-brainer.
Even the argument for the Bob over the deluxe for merely day rides goes out the window for those that would argue that the bob would be better for that. Now if someone just flat out like the looks of the Bob better then maybe I could understand it - and of course the price of the Bob is easier to swallow. But wow!!! what a nice machine/package the deluxe is.

I would love to try a Roadking some day. Other than that, theres nothing out there that even peaks my interest after this bike.

I hear what your sayin'. I bought the Heritage Classic because it had the bug screen and bags. I needed those things. The Deluxe was my first choice (I liked the Black & White two-tone). I thought about a Road King, but felt I sat too high in the saddle. I looked at a Dyna Super Glide Custom but the mid-controls and lack of equipment made me start looking at the Softail line. I wouldn't trade my FLSTCI for a Dyna or Road King at this time. Maybe l'll trade later on down the road, but for now it's Softails all the way.

Welcome to the club. I agree about the passing lights. With that and all the chrome on the front of the bike it is hard not to be seen.

The Deluxe has my vote a nice combination of that nostalgic look with modern day technology and a lot of room for mods to personalize it to your taste. One look at the Deluxe when I first seen it and I knew then I would own one.

Hi Softail guys...

I was just explaining to a buddy of mine who is considering a Deluxe that, it had always been a Deluxe for me, if any HD. However, when it came time to finally purchase a Harley, I saw the Denim Bob and all bets were off. Didn't even have a second thought. The Night Train - the only Softy similar - just didn't do it for me. I think it's that my Dyna gives me a nostalgic 70s vibe that I can relate to more than the classic 40s/50s vibe of the Deluxe. Don't get me wrong...the Deluxe is beautiful. Aesthetically, though, the Street Bob appeals to me more. Now, if they came out with a Softail Bobber with a low back end...[&:]
