Default Drivers backrest - are they really that great?

For those that have had seats with drivers backrests.... did you like them? Are they worth the $$$?

I am looking at getting a wide Mustang Vintage touring seat for my Deluxe with the drivers backrest for better comfort on those long rides. I currently have a Danny Gray Big Seat which I like but doesn't offer a backrest.

Thanks for any feedback.

Have the mustang wide touring with backrest on my bones, love it. I have such a bad back that I can't ride without one anymore, thanks Army. it's great for long rides, just lean back, kick your legs up on the highway pegs, and relax. Worth the money to me.

Definitely an improvement - got the HD backrest w/std FLHX seat & it extended my driving distance tolerence to over 300 miles - only stopping for fuel. Really supports the lower back & added comfort. Got mine online from Tri-City HD.

Both my HD's have had the mustang seat with the drivers back rest. I started on a 03 sporty, put the mustang on it and it became very comfortable to ride. When I bought my 10 FB Lo I tried the reach seat to get me a little closer and lower and found out it just didn't work for me. I put a mustang seat on it also with a driver backrest and it has made it much more comfortable.

After 20+ years of EMS/Fire service it makes a hugh difference to my back and my overall riding comfort. I will never ride again without one.

Thanks for the feedback... do you have any more pics of the bike with the seat on it? I'm concerned it will look "out of place" on a solo seat softail.

Why not get the Mustang seat with the Backrest. That way you can remove the backrest when you want to zip around town, and put it back in when on long haul. Best of both worlds!

Thats what I am doing.
