Took the football off my bones, not quite sure why they couldn't use a round one there ... no flaps or intakes to fill up the space. Got me thinking, and then searching some air filter threads

Not much of a choice of black insert plates to be found, guess the like of WCC and RSD would rather I bought an expensive assembly ..

Opinions?

mines didn't come with the football it came with the rounde one that i shortly plan on modding and have it induct more air... ima cut some slots mayb

The crossbones doesn't come with the football.....maybe the international models??

 

Yep for some reason Harley put it on the UK version, it really looks crap

 

Ughh, I see that, sorry. Ah, most of us mod that anyway.....

 

The round cover and open air cleaner would look sweet, for sure. I dumped my football for a round cover like H-D used on their older bikes, but I didn't go for the open cleaner. I much prefer the open look, but my guess is that the road dirt and crap you'd pick up while (whilst?) riding in the rain would cause you to clean the filter quite often in order to keep it from clogging up.

 

If you want the round look, the round K&N setups work great with an Evo round cover. That is what I have.

BTW - The Bones comes with a football cover in Japan too. Don't know why.

 

Yeah, it does get dirty and it seems to need to be reoiled a little more frequently.

Its one of the things on the list to do as well as slip-on rush mufflers, at the moment know money for any more mods, just bought a CC seat
