Default Crazy Problem but good ending

So my bike had been getting a bad hesitation just off idle when the bike got warm. I could not figure it out. I tried some obvious things first. Ran a little seafoam through the tank and nothing. Double checked my idle mixture and nothing. Replaced the plugs and nothing. Pulled the carb bowl and nothing. Now at this point I am thinking there must be some nasty crap in the tank. So I get the gas drained and pull the petcock screen. It was dirty at the very bottom but nothing horrible. I also went ahead and drained the carb bowl again and checked the jets just to make sure while the tank was empty. Well at this point I am thinking I basically have new plugs and a completely clean fuel system. If it does it again I was affraid it may be in the ignition$$$$. So I put about a gallon of fresh high test in and go for a good ride. Right before I am about to get gas I get the hesitation AGAIN. Well I reach down to hit reserve because I know I am low and about to stop in a mile. My fingers brush the plug wires and ZAP!!!!!!!!! Wire was arching out like a **** and got me. So after all that it was one bad plug wire. These were aftermarket SE wires only a year or so old. I put the stockers back on and good as new.

Geezz, Same thing happened to me a couple years back on a Sportster.. and yes it was a set of SE wires that were new... but faulty! Back to stock wires and the hesitation was gone.. go figure!!

And it is a bad hesitation. One that made me put my foot down one time in a slow sharp turn.

Actually I stated above that it was the wires and I did indeed swap them. But you are right it was not a good combo during a turn.

I understand. Luckily down here they don't seem to care about much. My plan it to do 1 3/4 shotgun drags.

Hey klf33; That is one really great looking ride you have there. I would do mine that way if I had the bucko's. I sure like it.

Hi There Man.. Nice looking bike .

Thanks , it is not that expensive, the most expensive was the Bars installation (I could not do it myself) ..

The rest is cheap. you just yank stuff off the bike LOL..

Installing the fork boots is a couple of hours and could be done by a monkey who can remove the front wheel and slide the forks . total cost 40$ for the boots.

Wrapping the pipes was much easier than most people think. cost under 80$ including new gaskets for the pipes.

The Solo seat setup was a bit pricey but you can do it yourself under 500$ piece by piece (Twin Mfg base cover 200$ or so, Seat from ebay 150$, front bracket 25$ or so, Springs (different sizes 50$), piece of rabbit fur to cover the ugly area 10$) etc..

The most expensive part was the PC of the wheel black (I kinda regret not going with pcing the whole wheel including spokes), and the Bars installation.

I have a quick setup for 2 up and this is how it looks like this , it takes me 5 minutes to swap (quick detack back rest came with bike).

That's one way to find it... lol From now on make sure you grab the plug wires before doing anything else... lol
Glad it was an easy fix for you...
