Default Badlander seat

Hey all,

The Night Train I'm getting comes with a Badlander seat as stock. I plan on lots of long rides, and I was wondering if anyone has ridden for long periods on a Softail model with a Badlander. I have a feeling I will want to change this seat for something with more lumbar support.

Cheers!

I just rode my Deuce from Phoenix to Reno and it was not too bad with the Badlander on it.

I have been riding with one for a couple years. Short rides ( under 200 miles are ok ) much more and you will want more support.

How long did that ride take you? How was it in general? Open, boring, good, what? I'm in Yuma, and we're thinking about a trip to Vegas, obviously closer than Reno...

Yeah, that's what I thought. I think I will either go with the Sundowner or Night Train custom seat. Both look like they have good lumbar support, and I've heard good things about them from other folks.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers!

Mac, when are you planning your trip to Vegas?

I'm planning on being in Vegas the week of July 16th.
I understand that's not the best time for riding (if NOT a good time to ride, is possible? )
It's strange considering the heat, when it 16 degrees and snowing here now. [sm=icon_quiet.gif]

I bought a HD low profile seat for my RK (like the badlander but it has tribal stitch on the seat) some years ago to give the bike a lower profile look. I like touring on that seat better than with the stock because I feel its more comfortable. The firm seat doesnt ache my **** as much.

I don't know about the Badlander seat. I have two seats for my Sloptail. One is the everyday good lookin' seat. It's a LePera Cherokee, and is the one on the bike in the picture section. The other is for when THE MAMA rides behind. It is a big fat honker of a seat, ooglier than a 65 year old opera diva, and just as comfortable. It's a Mustang touring seat I got from J&P. Only takes two minutes to swap 'em out.

Clammy,

Actually, I was planning on taking both the girls (daughter and wife) for New Years, but I can't seem to get a room anywhere (imagine that).

As for the ride up there, I'm not sure. We're talking about it, but we need to find a time when our daughter has some supervision (i.e. sent home to grandparents or the like...NOT some boy [:@]).

Before we do that, we need to work up to it, and find out where the aches are going to be. I want Kelly to LOVE this, not remember how painful her first ride was...

KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

I'm trying to win a war here, not the battle!

Pilot1996, Small world. I live in Yuma also. The trip to Vegas is very boring after Havasu. Took me and my wife 6 hours. We stop alot. Start her out with some short breakfast rides to Lagerta station, then out to Martinez lake and then to Julian maybe. Of corse you should already be making plans for the Laughlin River run. That is way better than Vegas. Lots of places to stop along the way and she can shop till she drops. Let me know if you want to ride sometime. I will be out of town Dec. 31st till Jan. 9th. I will need a ride when I get home.
