thinking of moving to FXSTC

Congrats on joining the 'softer' side. Your not going to be disappointed with the Custom.
Its already got most of the 'goodies' on it and what has to be one of if not THE best seat ever put on a Harley.
Just one word of caution, that nice looking fat tire out back can get you into trouble if your not paying attention.
Don't try to ride it like its your old Sporty by twisting the throttle hard while its still leaning over coming out of a tight turn, like a street corner. Especially if the road is wet or it has those damn tar strips the NYSDOT uses to fill cracks with.
Where your old Sporty with its smaller engine and lighter weight would let you get away with silly stuff like that, the Custom's longer wheel base and bigger engine will try to make that fat tire slide out or, on the tar strips, skip sideways on you.
Ordinarily its not something to be too concerned with, but like everything else, going too far can get you into more trouble than you want any part of.
Good luck with it and ride safe, where in upstate NY are you and where the hell are the PIC's, you MUST post pic's of any new bike, its the law you know.

One thing to consider that makes sense now that I have learned is the rear tire on the custom is a low milage tire 5-7000 miles. The indy I go to suggest running 42 psi all the time in it and 35 in the front to get them to last longer. If your going to be using the bike a lot it is something to think about.

I wonder why it's discontinued with it being such a comfortable bike to ride? It's also one of the better looking bikes.

When I first switched from the Sporty to my NT, I was amazed at how I could actually lean the NT over just as much as the Sporty and not have trouble pulling it back up.
BUT....
I definitely had to re-learn corners and getting back on the throttle coming out of them with a 200 tire and the extra wheelbase.
And another beware: If you see cars that were recently in an accident, double check the ground in front of you before pulling a hard left turn........there just MIGHT be a patch of antifreeze. And you just MIGHT bruise the hell out of your foot trying to not dump it after said 200 tire goes flying out to the side at 25mph.

So is tire #4 a factory tire? You are the first person I have heard of that got the factory to last beyond 7000 miles. I'll look when I get home but I thought the factory tire was a dunlop 205. I would be thrilled to get 11000.

To the OP, You are going to love the Custom, It is a great all around bike and equally at home around town or on the open road. The ness 3" Extensions are a must and they are the best mod I have done so far. I am currently working on a bigger mod but it is a surprise for now. Happy trails and ride safe.

You are correct, I broke the law, here are some pictures:
I bought the bike from O'Tooles in Wurstboro, NY, about 30 miles from my summer home.

My rear tire is a D407, any track record on those?
The Ness forward control extensions are next, found them on EBAY new in box for about $165-$170 shipped. The Custom really works well for me, it seems like every upgrade I did to the sporty is already there stock on the Custom (except the Screamin Eagle pipes, LOL).
