Cam swap on my Heritage
#11
You must not have much spare time...LOL...It only takes a few hours to swap 'em...I'd do it on the next rainy day and enjoy 'em now before the snow starts to fly.

I have never done one... so I figured I would take my time. Gonna start ordering parts in about another month or so. I still gotta see what all I am gonna need.

It's an easy job....The first ones I did were mine. I was ****, studied the manual, read and re-read the instructions, and studied a couple of pictorials of swaps on the internet. My first job took me right at 8 hours...Most of it reading and re-reading. I can now do a set in 4 hours or so.

There is a special socket for turning back the outer cam tensioner so you can use a pin to lock it outta the way....This job can be done with other things in most tool boxes. An allen key can be used for the pin.
There is a special inner bearing puller and installer. You can use a blind puller on a slide hammer, though. You can install the bearing by tapping it in place with a brass mallet.
You'll need a press to press the bearings on the cams...I used my large bench vise and a big socket...
I also used the freezer/oven method for removing and installing the bearings in the cam plate.
