Battery Tenders - anyone use 'em?
#52
I have and use the regular "battery tender" not the junior. Both of my sons have The Harley Battery tenders. They all work fine. There is however a distinct advantage to the regular BT. It goes into what they refer to as a "desulfation" mode after reaching full charge. According to the info that comes with the BT you cannot over desulfate a battery. It also will allow you to connect up to 4 batteries to the same BT if all the batteries are the same size and type. ie. if you had more than one bike with the same battery. On my 89 it will won't drain in the summer. On my 99 with digital odometer etc. it will eventually drain it with out a BT. I always put them on in the off season.

battery tender
I have been using one every winter for the past five years my stock original battery is still in service. The tender will extend the life of the battery. when a battery goes dead and is charged you loose a bit of its life its not the best thing for a battery. keeping it topped off all winter helps a lo. got my bike in sepy 2004 it will be six years in a few weeks

I use a battery tender all the time. Every time I park it I tender the bike. During the winter is the best though. If you dont tender it battery cells could die because of the cold. When you try to crank it if tendered in the depth of winter it will drag some times but tendered it will crank right up like it was summer. It keeps your batter going longer also. I cranked my bike on a 8 degree day last year and it started right up no problems. I went on the polar bear ride.
