I use the $22 Schumacker 1.7 amp tender from Walmart. $18 if you have a Farm and Fleet nearby.

I keep 14 batteries going. Five motorcycles,5 sports cars, a truck, lawn tractor, trolling motor battery, spare motorcycle battery and a trailer brake standby battery.

They come with the connectors to the battery. Read the instructions. The highest and best use of a tender is to have it hooked in 100 % of the time the vehicle is in the garage. Just take the 5 seconds to unplug when you leave the garage and reconnect when you return.

A battery maintained as I just stated will double or better the life of the battery. I sold a bike at 8 years old with with the original battery still going strong. My 02 Vette with an 01 build still has the original battery.

I have never had any battery problems ever!

Here is the five bikes.

And some of the stored cars.

By the way heat kills batteries not cold. Cold will preserve the battery.

My Tender rotates regularly through two bikes, two Ski-Doos, an outboard boat, and my John Deere. I have no life so changing the tender keeps me going! And I haven't replaced a battery in years.

Default battery tender

Plugged in 100% of the time when the kick stand is down, carry the charger and an extension cord for on the road motels and friends garages.

Old Guy Trick.
Don't forget to put a piece an insulator, ( wood, rubber, ? ), between the kick stand and the cement ( Ground ). Same thing with a battery when setting it on the garage floor.

Battery Tender Jr. with pigtails so I can plug in any time. No alarm on the bike so not much of a drain when not running. I only use it when I know I will not be riding for 2 weeks or longer. It's a good investment for only $29.00.

I religiously use one. Not only the bike will always statup on the first push but the battlery will last longer. I got one from the HD dealer for $30.00. He said it is the same as the HD brand but for half the price.
