Thanks N3WWL, that clarifies it a bit. I agree that relocation kit is fugly I will be shaving my side plates as well.

I don't know why they changed to the phucked up one they have now. I had one on my 84 that just extended the rear of the strut straight back a few inches. It just bolted on over the strut and when installed it looked totally stock. Just made the strut look a few inches longer. Totally unnoticeable to the causal observer.

Do you have the part number for that kit? That looks different than any I have seen around. I like how it moves it more rearward.

MNFatboy, the part number for the Black relocation kit is:73369-10 they make 2 chrome versions one for '07 and later:69929-07 and one for '03-04-05-06 :69857-07...

I went with this kit/bracket. The video makes it look easy but I thought it was a little tricky to install.

Default Original HD relocation kit for Lo

I have the original Harley Davidson relocation kit installed on my Lo. Looks ok.
I also have the Softail detachable saddlebags and they really match the looks of the bike.

I wanted to update this thread, as I just installed the detachable plates, and went the way of the grinder....

It all fit in there, and here are my pics.
