Default fuel tank year models??

Ok, Ive got a 06 Night train and Im wanting to know if a older softail tank without the fuel gauge built in it will fit? Im wanting a tank with two screw in caps and no gauge, They should make an adapter to fill in the larg hole so that it can be threaded!

00-06 will fit...The older ones were a two piece tank, that's why there were two fill holes.

Why do you want it set up that why?

Well the factory caps look cheap and it would look weird to just change one, and the digital guage options out there dont look much better in my opinion. Id just assume to watch the mileage and the low fuel light. So an 01 or 02 tank(s) would fit?

If your Fuel Injected, then an 01-06 injected tank will work..... If carbed, an 00-06 tank.....Any softail except a duece. A welder can easily do what you want to do.

Thats exactly what Ive been pondering on doing is to just weld in a threaded throat just like the right side has to replace the larger left hole. Im just gonna have to ruin a tank to make it happen. maybe I can get my hands on a wrecked tank or something.
