Transmission oil leak problem solved...
My bike has been leaking tranny fluid a drop at a time for years. It finally buted open on Sunday's ride and I knew it was time to tear it apart. The bike is a 2002 fatboy with 52K miles on it.
I removed the primary cover and the clutch basket and compensating sprocket (without any special tools except a wooden stick) I was then surprised to find out I have to pull the oil tank to get to the screws on the back of the starter which attach to the inner primay. Therefore the oil tank had to come off. This was the biggest PITA. The oil tank is the worst part of this whole operation.
Once the oil tank was removed, I removed the starter bolts and and then all the bolts that hold the inner primary in place and it popped right off.
I discovered that the bearing race on the main shaft had walked inward pressing on the main shaft ring seal , causing it to leak. 6 hours of work for a $5 part.
I have all the parts with the exception of chrome inner primary which I am not sure if I am going to win or not.
We'll see what happens with the chrome inner primary on Ebay that ends today.
I'll get some pics up with steps later when I have time. Yeah or neigh on the chrome inner primary guys?

General consensus on the subject is if you're putting out more than 100TQ, the race will walk. Drew hasnt got that much (yet) so you got me. Since its not an uncommon problem with stock engines, I chalk it up to "the nature of the beast"
And Drew, my vote is for whatever floats your boat. All the chrome in the world still wont turn your fatty into a Dyna
