I have a 2000 Heritage and my engine light came on and it won't turn off unless I reduce my speed. Any ideas on what that could be or how to trouble shoot this?
On a 2000 model, you have to make a jumper wire and hook it up to the #1 and 2 pins in your diagnostic port plug. Turn your ignition switch on and watch your engine light. It will come on, go off, flash 6 times, then start showing any codes your have stored. You count the flashes. For example, cam position error is 42, so you will see engine light come on, then go off, then flash 6 times quickly, then pause and flash 4 times more slowly, pause, then flash 2 more times, then 6 quick flashes. Just note the flashes between the fast ones and you'll have your codes.
