I would also have to agree that the solid wheels don't make much, if any difference. Centrifical force keeps everything in line. Wind will blow you no matter what wheels you have. I rode both.

Thanx for the replies everyone. I think I've read enough comments to put my mind at ease about it. Now all I have to do is choose a color..... and choose between new or used....... private seller or dealer.....

Never noticed on my old sportbike but my Fatboy catches wind every once in awhile but like someone said earlier, you get used to it. Scared me at first but now I'm just like "ehh! whatever"

I've ridden a few thousand miles on Southern California freeways on my 2004 Fatboy with the stock wheels and never had any problem with wind push from passing big rigs. I recently switched to open custom wheels and didn't notice any difference at all. I would say it's a non issue. Go for the Fatboy.

The only time I have had a problem was a 50MPH cross wind in South Dakota pass in a Semi at 85 with a wind shield.

As I cleared the Semi the side pressure caused a wobble that got my attention.

I threw the wind shield away an never happened again.

I think the up right riding possition is more a factor than the wheel myth.
You get used to it.

All wheels act as a solid even spokes over 35MPH someone on here had wind tunnel data a few years ago that proved it.

If you are being pushed on a Fatboy it is not the wheels it is your Fat Belly. This topic should not be a reason to not purchase a fatboy. I would think more about do I want a bike that you cant not put saddle bags or a windshield on because it kills the look of the bike.

Anyone that tells you this needs to be drug tested get cleaned up and go ride one.
This comes up all the time about FB's it is not true and has no facts to support it.

i have owned two Fatboys and countless other spoked bikes and never noticed the difference. Fatboy is the way to go if you like the looks.

Floorboards compromise the ground clearance a lot, but i love the feel and the look. +1 on jbg's advice to leave them on a while and see how you get on.

No problems with crosswinds or passing trucks, here, either.
