HOW TO: Xbones to Fatboy Rear Fender Swap
#51
That douche will always pop up on a Crossbones thread just to drop some hate. Maybe if we all started hanging mop dusters off our floorboards, drove thumb tacks all over our seats and hung a couple of saggy old lady's hand bags off our rear fender then our scoots would look as cool as his...
Pathetic @$$hole!

For doing so I would like to apologize first specifically to the owners of Heritage Softail Classics. I don't mean to hate on your bikes. They are not my thing but that is only a matter of my personal taste and I don't believe that anyone who rides one has bad taste or judgment. I used traits of the Heritage to take a jab at one person without thinking about the many other good folks I might offend who ride a Heritage.
Second I would like to apologize to anyone who has been following my thread and to future readers of my thread. I should have done what I could to steer the topic back to its main objective (the modding of a Crossbones) and not add the the negative dribble brought about by trolls and haters. I hope I can continue to offer advice and learn from others and move away from the negativity that I helped to create.
Thanks,
Skeez

Good call Skeez. If my XBNZ did not look like it did, it would look like yours, BTW. Great work.

After having posted this response I started feeling a bit like an @$$ myself. I don't like spreading hate around and I view the forums first and foremost as a means for me to share and learn from other enthusiasts who enjoy getting their hands dirty to make their scoots their own. On the other hand I am only human and I get so burned up when other members seem to go out of their way to rag on other people's scoots, thoughts, or what-have-you. I find it hard to imagine a person sitting behind a keyboard just looking for an opportunity to drop criticism as if they are privy to some universal truth that the rest of us are too ignorant to grasp. I feel bad that I allow myself to stoop to the same level in response.

After trying my luck on getting a used FatBoy (07up) rear fender decided to go ahead a buy a new one. Just wanted to pass on the prices I found (place I order all my parts from)
Lake Shore HD
Vivid Black FLSTFB fender=$268.80
Denim Black FLSTFB fender=$289.60
I'm painting mine to match my bones, so just going with the cheapest one.

Basically just going to have a fatboy fender for touring purposes. There are a few long rides I want to do while I'm still here in Europe and the chopped fender limits my options for luggage. And I never liked the stock fender.

Some Post Rear Fender Mod Photos
I was looking back at my post and realized that other than the couple of snap shots I posted the night I completed this install I otherwise never showed much else in the way of pics so here are a few for everyone to consider. This first set is of the bike as I ride it SOLO.

Two Up Touring Pics
Here is the main reason my Bones is going in the direction that it is. After I bought it and my wife swore she'd never want anything to do with riding it she now regularly goes on long trips with me. As such I wanted to set up the bike to make her far more comfortable then can be done with a stock Crossbones.
